transmission and driveshaft question

hello, im new to the forums, what i have been trying to figure out is will my 97 318is driveshaft work with the e36 m3 transmission? if not how can i make it work? dif swap$

dones some searches and havnt found anything definitive, thanks in advnace.

Are they both manual transmissions? Whats the reason for swapping?

The 318 used a different transmission then the ZF one found in the M3. Their will most likely be a difference in lenth because the engine block of the 318 and the M3 are different lenths. The M3 transmission also has a lot more power to handle then a 318.

well the reason for the beefier trans is that i intend on building and boosting the m44 (yea i know the s52 swap is easier and cheaper, but wheres the fun in that?). so, i just wanted to know if anyone had any insight.
