would i be able to pick up a manual transmission relatively cheap at a junk yard or something and throw it in my 93 325is and take that auto out? if i went through with this would i have to replace the ECU or anything else? thanks for your help.
I don't know about BMW, but I have a buddy who swapped trannies in a Supra. Believe it not, comming from him, you might be better off sticking with the auto. Swapping trannies can get costly and really need to be babied after the fact. You would also have to change the ECU as well due to the fact that it is going to react differently.
http://www.double02salvage.com/ is where I got my tranny from... cost me 750 and only had 70k miles on it out of an m3. My swap was completed on friday. I'll post pics tomorrow night...
thanks for the help guys, jrhaile, i look forward to seeing your pics of the conversion. also how much did it cost you for the whole deal? thanks again guys.
cost me about a total of 1400 including a racing short shifter.. me and a good friend of mine put it in otherwise, would have been like 3000. I forgot to take pics... I'll do it soon.
