Trans questions need help

I have a 1992 325 runs perfect very well taken care of. It has an automatic with 159000 miles on the car. The trans seems to take forever to up shift when cold but otherwise is perfect in every way any suggestions? is this normal? this is my first auto car and not sure about it. Thanks
