when on stand still and I engage in 1st, I hear a faint "thud" coming off from somewhere. I can almost feel it when it does that but my friend when he was riding with me can't hear or feel a damn thing coz it is very faint almost like nothing. I can't seem to figure where it's coming from and it happens almost everytime with the clutch fully depressed and all. have anyone experienced this before? I am thinking about having it looked at a garage but has yet to have at least an idea..
hmmm i think you might have to check your differential. i know that the thud is common on e36s its due to excessive play in the differential which is suppose to be there. the only reason i ask you to check is to make sure the level of fluid in the differential is ok
Correct me if I'm wrong but there should be no contact between the engine and the differential when the clutch is fully depressed, right? that's why I ruled out the diff in the first place but I'll still have a look tomorrow. thanks man..
....Damn its raining again

from what my understanding is that because the power suddenly comes off the diff it kinda makes a thump noise.
I checked the diff fluid and it's ok. well my problem usually happens when the car is in neutral as the clutch is fully depressed and I am shifting to 1st then as it goes into gear I hear that faint thud...
