trailering with a 318I

Hello...I have a 1992 218I stick shift BMW. I have had it for 12 years and happy with it. Recently I am thinking about buying a boston whaler boat with trailer.
Does anyone have any experiences trailering a boat with a 318 I ?
It seems that a 15" whaler will weight out at 1200 pounds, and a boston whaler
17" montauk will be about 1800 pounds...
Can a 318 I handle this weight and tongue weight using a basic class I hitch...
Any advice on trailering with a 318 I would be appreciated..
On the trailering, its not long distances ..only 5-8 miles..its the weight and torque
issues that concern me..

Personally I wouldn't trailer a 318 at all. But 1000 + pounds I think is pushing it

Here in the Netherlands it is allowed to hitch a trailer with your type of car in the next situations:
Trailer without break unit: 550 kg (1212.5 lbs)
Trailer with break unit: 1200 kg (2645.55 lbs)

Your total weight of trailer is 3000 lbs, so this is not allowed here, and I think it will hurts the clutch. The values I have given are MAXIMUM weights in 2 different situations (without and with brake unit).

It could be that your local laws are much different from these but it gonna be a hard job for your car though.......
