Traction Control & ABS

OK my Traction Control light keeps coming on as does the ABS light at the same time. The lights show up when I start up the car, or they can show up 6 miles down the road. it varies. I had BMW dealership look it and they said it was fine, just maybe a glitch in the lights. But when I was at a local car meet a guy with a bimmer said that they showed up becasue my Brake pads could be low.(they were changed at around 42K miles, car has 61K miles) and he also said that it could possible be that I have Pressed the "ASC" button next to the shift knob. Which takes off traction control. But I've pressed it multipul times and they still how up!!!! I am really confused on why my lights keep coming and I could really use some answers.

if the pads are low, you would get a different light, however just double check to make sure you have sufficient pad life and that the pad wear sensors are there and functioning. next id get the dealership to re-diagnose the problem, it could be any number of things from the aforementioned pad problem to an actual problem with the abs system , such as a speed sensor etc etc.

ya if the speed sensor(s?) and/or abs are messing up TC won't work properly as it relys on the brakes and sensor(s?)
