i know 318's arent exaclty rockets, but ive noticed that once my car hits 90 to 100 it starts to like bog down or something, its still getting more speed, just very VERY slowly at about 105 i just give up and slow down, i noticed this a couple of times when ive had to haul ass to work or something, and i could swaer that ive gotten her up to 120 with ease? any comments? is that how all 318;s are? how bout the other guys on here with 318's?

The fastest I have gone -- I believe -- is 125. I really didn't have much trouble getting there. I usually hit 90 - 95 every day on my way to work as I go up a steep hill. Not that I am in a rush, but it is fun, and the topography is wide open enough that I can see if there are cops anywhere near me.

I have a 318ti and ive never taken it past 120 but i think i read somewhere that is limited at 120. Thats plenty fast for me. After my last ticket im to scared to speed much. Some days my car does feel faster than others for some reason.

As far as I remember, the limiter on 318's is at 120. Id say that your car's behavior isnt so normal. I dunno what couses the problem but it should easily go to 120 and you gotta have some more in reserve to keep speeding up.

ur 318 should do 120 easy probably more. u may want to check the car over maybe ur limiter is lower. where r u located here in the uk the limiter stops u at 130mph but when removed it will go to 150mph try gettin the limiter removed then try it it may be that it is slowin u cause ur reachin the limiter value.
Well, I have a 318IS, and just yesterday I was driving back from a carshow at raceway park in New Jersey. Anyhow the drive back to NY was a blast, and I hit 125 easily on my car once I got there though it takes a lot more to get her past there as if something is stopping it from moving anymore, cause I still have play on my gas peddle. The fastest I got her last night though was about 130 125.
Is it bogging like fuel starvation bogging? Have you done a tune-up? Did you check such issues as air filter or the ICV (idle control valve)?
At hgh speeds fuel and air supply systems are being taxed. Smoth delivery of both systems are vital.
If these issues prove to be a non-factor in your bogging you should move down the line to such issues as compression, oil level and electronics. i.e. Sensors and your computer.
318's depending upon build date were limited to 120 or 130. Pushing that four banger to those limits, frequently and with 'violent' effort, will not end in a happily ever after (ask me I know...) These are high compression engines that can take a lot of abuse but you need to make sure that your engine is tight (seals etc) and your cooling system is running well.
And lastly I'm with Cruizin on this one... 100 mph is plenty.
