Hey guys
I just purchased the TMS spark injector for my 96 328i but I only bought the car a yr ago. The reason I am doubting if the car has already been spark injected is cuz it has no governor, i hit 140mph and i redlined the car to 6.5K and it was all fine.
2 main things the spark injector does is remove governor and rev limiter both of which I dont think I have.
Someone please help me cuz if I do have it then I need to call TMS and ask them not to send it.

Dude, your awesome.

It's a shark injector. And if your car reads 140mph, it doesn't necessarily mean your doing that. As a matter of fact, the speedo on BMW cars is actually generous by 5-7mph due to strict German regulations.

All of that aside, the Shark Injector's biggest attribute is what it does w/ for your car regarding performance. It will add some noticeable hp/tq, more so than a CAI or other inexpensive mods.

How do you know if it's already been sharked. No easy way, really.

ya I am just wondering if I am wasting $350 in getting the shark injector cuz like i said i hit around 135mph ( 140ish on teh speedo). Dont all the US models have a governor to start of with ? or not really.
if someone could tell me in some way how to check or how to know if i am wasting my money, i would owe u a big one...lol

If your previous owner had connections at a local shop he could have removed the governer quite easily with a computer for OBDII cars. You can set all sorts of parameter with it, quite fun. We played with a ford f150 on it and were doing the tests. The thing started freaking out and the windows started going up and down and the doors locked, it was sorta cool.

If it had been done you'd probably still have the injector cause I think it can only be used on a single car.

Check out your rev limiter and see where it's at.

ya i believe u are right...it can only be used on one car. and i was not given anything. but then again I got it off a dealer on ebay.
how do i check my rev limiter ? i went little over 6.5 which is red line and it was fine.

Um, I wouldn't really recomend doing this, but it really is the only way to check. Just run it up to redline in 2nd gear and see where the stutter kicks in at. I think it's the only way short of hooking it to a computer.

Oh, you'll notice when you hit it. It won't turn the engine off. You won't hurt anything unless you drive against it for like 10 mins. Just hit it you'll tell and make a mental note of where it is at.

Or do it in neutral, parked, without a load on the engine. I wouldn't say rev freely, but you will certainly get an idea of the cut off.

hey thanks jilphan
will go check it, so my dial goes max upto 7000rpm and my redline begins around 6300rpm, so i should just push it all the way and see right ? isnt that quit a small redline range ? just noticed it but in my previos cars redline would be in the range of around 2000 rpm
