Got a white IS and all my windows except the windshield and driver side front window (someone decided to break into my car) are tinted, but the tint has gone purple, and even the rear has turned into two different tones of purple, don't ask me how that happened. So I've been thinking of either redoing the tint or just stripping it all off and leaving it clean. Just wanted to hear some opinions before I went ahead with it.

Definitely replace the old tint and get new tint. It not only help keep out sunlight in the hot weather, but it also greatly improves the cars image.
Also Rooz, where did you get your kit to change the emblems' color from?

That does look nice Rooz, but a tad too dark me thinks. What % do you have? I'll probably get a little bit higher.

Tint, and here's why.
1) It looks dead sexy.
2) It keeps you cooler by keeping some of the sun out.
3) If it's cooler in your car, the AC won't have to work as hard.
Now, what I plan on doing is getting my windows tinted to the max allowable in NC, which is 35%. I will also make sure that I get that 3M stuff so that I can use my phone in the car. Also get a lifetime warranty on the job. Any reputable shop should offer that. It might be a little more expensive, but it will save you from your current situation happening again.

Replace that stuff with tint. Right now. Purple tint looks like shit.

Tint decreases the effectiveness of a radar/laser detector. My V1 loses close to 35% of it's range and sensitivity with just a 10% tint.

Just something to keep in mind. White cars do look damn sexy with tint though.

Was just down to the nearest tint shop and they quoted me $200, that seems reasonable to me. But also they said there's a lot of different colors of tint, but the ones I liked were either just regular black and some "graphite" color it was like a smoked out blue, can't really explain, does anyone have that one?

Note: tinting your front windsheild is an entirely different process, expect about $150 for that.

Normally tinting the front windshield is illegal. However, you can put a strip across the top that will help remove light.

10% tint is VERY dark, I'm not surprised it killed the V1's effectiveness.

metal flake based tints also can also disrupt various microwave & radio signals. ceramic based tints are less prone to do this.

About the window tint, I love it, but latly where I live the police have really cracked down on front window tint. I have 5% all the way around my red 328i and I have been pulled over many times. I love the tint so much I replace it so I dont have to pay the fine.

A question for anyone that has anything less than 30% all around. Do you find it pretty hard to see at night, just a bit of a hassle, or no problem at all?
