Time & date set on 1997 328is

I am having a problem resetting my time and date. When I press the time or date button, I get the message "Input time/date". but, it will not accept any input. Am I missing a step?

Are you pushing "set/res" after you make the input?

Disconnect your battery for an hour. This should reset the date time stuff so you can enter it when you first start the car.

It will not allow me to input a time or date. I'll try the battery disconnect.

Thank you!

I tried the battery disconnect. then, upon closer inspection, I realized my time & date display is working. It's just that it does not light up anymore. The proper time and date are there. I just have to hold a flashlight on it to see them. Just like my odometer/trip meter. Any ideas?

The E36 and E39 were notorious for having the solder or bulbs failing in the OBC. Their are numerous DIY's on how to fix it, but it involves taking apart the OBC to get to the circuit board inside. If your not good at fixing delicate electronics I would find someone to do this for you, or replace the OBC.
