| I assume you're referring to the multi-throttle intake manifold? The S14 (E30 M3) uses multi-throttle bodies where as the M42 (318) uses a single throttle body. The S14 has throttle bodies for each intake runner which is more efficient. The 318 has a dual stage throttle body which is a completely different design. Anyways, I've talked to Jim C. and he said with A LOT of modifications it could be made to work. However, the results are not with it. For half the price and less hassle you could probalby have a custom multi-throttle intake manifold made. You'd also need to install more aggressive cams to make use of a modification like that.
You'd be better off taking the intake manifold from an E30 318 (M42) and swapping it into your motor. They have higher flowing manifolds which are made of cast aluminum (I think) whereas ours (E36 318) uses restrictive thermoplastic intake manifold on the inside. They are actually smoother. However, they can not be extrude honed. I'm currently trying to somehow make the manifold from the E30 fit. I'll let you know how it goes if you're interested. Also note that the E30 318's had higher rev limiters for this reason.
