Thoughts towards Differentials

I will probably in the next few months begin my search for a differential.

What ratio should I be looking for... as I know little towards them.

Most of you know my power status in the car.

Who should I buy from?

Rebuild my self? I have every took at my disposal.

Or direct whole replacement?

you have OE diffs to choose from or you can custom make one.

anthing higher is really not worth it unless you go 6speed.

I have been hearing great stuff about the 3.64... But I dont know anyone with one... I've only read posts about it...

Well.. I will be using this car as a weekend fun car.. auto-x ect.. not much road racing.. just a lot of weekend sprinted driving.

I want a good diff that can hold up... have fun..

Nothing crazy for racing...

than i suggest the 3.46 from the E36 320's its a good step up from the 3.23 but not so close that your redlining on the highway or on top speed runs... 3.64 is hard to find i hear...

im looking into a 3.46 as well, but depending on when i go FI i might just hang on to my 3.15 or even go 2.93

id be patient and just keep an eye out for that 3.64... from what i hear, with the setup your running there is nothing better...

Here's the thing.. I have a 95 M3 diff sitting in my storage unit... the internals are shit... I can get a new set of gears from diffsonline for a 3.64...

Anyone ever changed the gears inside of their diff...

I might have to get a book or something.. hmmm someone has had to do this.

I'm not looking for a differential R&R... I'd droped mine more times than I can count....

I can do it is less than 20 mins provided the half shaft bolts are not extremly old and or striped.

I was speaking about the internals...
