| air spacers (Usually called the air gapper) are found on carborated cars to tune the distance and cycling of the air to achieve maximum diffusion of fuel (however its carborated and still sucks)
On F/I the cases it really works on is throttle body injection, and manifold injection. They put a spiral design into the sides of the gapper to make the air swirl around for a better mix. Usually gives more torque, or does nothing at all.
