Yesturday I was at a stop light in the first snow of the year and stupid me desides to drop the cluth at 3000 rpms and spin my tires then at about 6000 I went to shift into 2nd and I grinded bad. Then I was like ohhh F$%&#*&&$*%&'n Mother F%*$%#%$^R. Then just put my car into 3rd. I drove to the next light went to down shift GRRRRRRRRRINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD. So I was think'n whats going on here. I start to take off again shift to 2nd at about 3 1/2 - 4 grand then the same GRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNND. 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th are fine tho. The only way I can use 2nd is if i slam it into gear and it still grinds. ????????
yeah you could be in trouble. im not too sure but for the sounds of it you could done good damage. ill let someone who might know answer just to be sure
that might be ur clutch, not so much ur tranny, because, when u dropped ur clutch, that may have done it.. but the main thing is the grinding is probably the clutch/pressure plate not able to disengauge fully
u need to be kinda more specific, when does it grind, when ur putting it in, or when u are already in the gear and going?
Have it towed on a flatbed to a good transmission mechanic. If you drive it now, it can mean the difference between a $500 repair and a $3000 repair...
For future reference, If your gonna do it.... never DROP the clutch, let it slip to give the wheels positive force, and then quickly release it (NOT DROP, PULL BACK faster than you normally would.)
Obviously this is still hard on the car but when you can't resist it, this is the best for the driveline compaired to stright up dropping it...
The same ammount of force spread out over a greater ammount of time is NOT as harsh as the same ammount of force instantaniously....
dude you're screwed sorry. that's not your clutch from the sounds of it. Your gears have been warped. call John LKQ's salvage yard in Oregon and get a new one. Probably will cost you 700-800.
guys, listen to what he said, even though he is needs to be more specific.
it sounds like WHEN he shifts, it grinds, but once its in, its in, yeah, thats prolly his clutch, wutever tho
maybe his synchros are all torn up or something and he's converted his gearbox to a dog toothed one
Either way, Grinding is BAD and you can't drive it now.
its always best not to totally drop it. if i am gonna burn out i usually start it at about 5mph releasing the clutch semi-fast while turning the wheels to get one tire started first, then straighten er out.

AMG can't build an NA engine that can compete with M engines, so they stick in a supercharger and say their cars are faster. BMW could simply do the same, but they don't out of principle.</span>
Sounds like you probably grinded the 2nd gear. The teeth have probably chipped off or were dented. If it's the gear you'll need to replace the gear which will require removal of the gearbox.

I've got a messed up 2nd
Double clutching is the way to go The notchyness from the MZ3 short shifter lever makes it more difficult to shift.
