Interesting... I thought that due to their hollow and hardened design, they snapped instead of bent.
This is true, they'll very rarely be bent, more liekly snappe, because they are hollow.
As far as I can tell the cams look good. The gear looks in good condition aswell. But please note I am giving just a quick overview due to my lack of knowledge on cam conditions and experience.
Here's a dumb question, are you sure the pictures he's given you are a pair of cams? He's giving you both cams right?

yah where is the other cam? Just look for a lot of scoring on the cams. Well I think thats the term lol. Like a lot of scratches and worn out areas, hard to tell in those pics.

They look fine. If you look at the 3rd picture you can see the 2nd cam sitting on the box. Anyway, you will want to know how many miles were on the car when he removed these cams. Make sure you look at the cams very closely when you get them to see if there are any discolored lobes or mis-shaped lobes. Those are both indications of drive train damage that could have damaged the cams as well. You might even want to have an engine guy give them a quick look over before you install them (if you aren't sure what to look for in a good cam).
Good luck.

My good buddy is a tech at BMW, he's going to check them over when they arrive... I had the guy send me an email with a description of condition and he says there is no visible scoring and that when he runs his fingernail accross them, it does not catch on anything...
Thanks for your input guys, I'll let you know how they end up!
I am installing these as part of an engine rebuild (2.9L Stroker) but that won't happen until next winter, so I'm thinking of installing the cams when I get them to get a bump in power until I can get to the rebuild...
