Thanx Whiteshark,

I went and checked my gas cap and it was on upside down. So I fixed it...I'll get it coded...I called Autozone to see if they could do it and they ask me if the car had a computer port..I wouldn't know where to look for it or even what it would look like. Can you advise?

Yes you do have an ECM port......it will be on the driver's side, above the gas & brake pedals......there will be a large black cover....& there should be a smaller cover on the left with a large plastic screw that will open it and expose the port.....

Under trim panel #9 you will see smaller covers on the left.....

Shot in the dark here, but I think you will find it either on the drivers side under the dash or the passengers side under the dash you should see a small black cover,flip open and you will see a port or under the hood you will see a round black cap which screws off underneath you will find a port.

Sometimes you might find it in the glove box, up under the dash.

If it is the same as my 99' 323i, it's under the Driver's side dash above the brake pedal. Black flip cover; and the port is under there. It's almost directly under the steering wheel in the foot well, but off to the left a little.
