tapping and oil?????? - BMW Forum

hi every1!! my 320i 24v started tapping last week

and think it's starting to get worse any ideas?? nearly on max now but what oil do i get for it???

I think it is about time for a Valve adjustment.
It would help if you awnser the below
How many miles are on the car/engine?
Did it gradually make the nosie of one day start?
Any recent work done to the car?
What oil is in it(weigh ex:10w-30) and last oil change?
Where is the tapping comming from?

hi! it has 123500 miles on it, gradually got worse over the last week, don't think it has had anything done for a while but not sure only had for bout 2 weeks. there was a used can of oil in boot (10-40) and cant realy tell where tapping from think top (not sure tho)

hmmmm i would sugest A running about 1/3 of a can of seafoam threw the oil(dont drive hard!!! meaning pre 3k rpm shifts

) and drive for 1-2 miles then do and oilcange and Valve adjustment! couldn't hurt and it is probably just the valve tapping... another question is that it is a Tap and not a knock?

just tapping all the time no knocking. is valve ajustment easy?
