Symptoms of a catalytic convertor?

I have a 99 bmw 323i with some issues it does not go more than 50 miles
when I press gas the the car goes down
i took it to bmw dealer and the replaced trottle housing or trottle body I think this is the same part.

I saw in here on another post that this may be Symptoms of a failed catalytic convertor I do not getting any check lights that's another problem that I have to fix but bmw will fix it

again dealer replaced part and car run ok for few days but went back to same problem!

this issue is not all the time some time i can run the car all day with not problems some times the first time I get problem

I just want to make sure if by replacing catalytic convertor will take care of this issue

Plugged cat would pretty much be all the time...
Does it feel like a Misfire? or just like someone is pushing the brakes while your driving(or the E-brake is on...) Does it spudder out? Is the idle ok? Mileage and last service and accedent and where if any? no warning lights on? is it an automatic transmission? could it be the tranny issue and not the engine. if it is a auto try dropping it a gear when the issue comes.

This is a automatic with 118k just one week that dealer service the trottle housing not warning lights on I think it is also damaged and it feel like misfire the idle seem to be ok

question what kinda tools do you have access to? con you pull the plugs? ad see what olor they are(to check for a rich condition) whent was your last tune up? have your fuel and air(if dirty) filters changed....

I speak Spanish (better than English, I must add), so we are a Spanish-speaking forum (as opposed to hispanic-speaking... learn English DIRTE30!.... btw, I think you meant to say 'discernible'). However, his post explains the situation well. Also, how often have you tried to find BMW advise in Spanish online? I'd take werkz every time. We help people from all over the world for whom English is not a first language, and we do just fine.

Does teh car only go up to 50 miles per hour? Or does it only run for 50 miles and then shut off?

When it shuts off, does teh whole car shut off, or do you just get a loss of power, and teh RPM needle goes down?

Automatic or manual?

I really doubt that changing the catalytic converter will solve your mystery problem. You need to dig deeper before you spend that much money.

If so it Doesn't sound like a catalytic converter... It kinda sounds like maybe a Fuel Filter is clogging up....

When was the last service(Maintance wise Fuel Filter, Air Filter, Oil change, antifreeze ect.)?
