swap manual m52 block into an auto car?

Hello.
I have a 1997 323i Auto with a M52 B25 engine I assume!
I need to change engines and have seen an engine with the code M52 BF82?.
It is from a manual 97/98 323i but still has a clutch/flywheel attached.

I have been advised "You would have to take the starter ring off your auto and connect it to the torque converter"

Are these two engines compatible?
Is this advice correct?

Should work just fine just remove the clutch and flywheel from the manual tranny motor and swap out the flywheel from your auto tranny motor.
