Anyone heard of Downing Atlanta? My friend's dad just began to put on one of their superchargers on his 318iC. They claim 7s times. Anyone have one?? http://www.downingatlanta.com/index.htm
yeah the claim about over 200hp doesnt sound like an accurate figure, but they sound like the know what they are talking about... if your friend has already bought a kit from them it must not be a scam??
he definitely has it... I think I can take him though, with similar hp, the ic will be slower with the extra weight...
www.understeer.com. They sell the kit and have graphs. It shows 200 Rear wheel Horse Power. That's about 240 crank hp. It is THE supercharger kit for the 318. I have seen graphs on other sites of around 189-195 rwhp. That's M3 range. We have a forced induction forum here, check with them.

hey my m8 has a downing atlanta setup and it is wicked. the reason its a good idea is because here in the u.k we r like really expensive for insurance so u buy 1 and supercharge it. emm i dunno about the 200hp mark but it does go and could possibly beat a stock 328 all depends on the driver. also it is not really worth it unless u remove the speed limiter first.cause then it is really slow to start with but is still slow with the supercharger on it. i had 1 before but it was fitted wrong and done some strange thing to my car and made the piston shoot up through the head and that was the end of that 318se for me. the result is amazing for to drive everyday. really it is just fun once u get into it and start u will forget ur 328 untill u step outside it then the fun has stopped u then get right into ur 328 and it doesnt appeal as much. well in my opinion anyway every 1 is different. its maybe also the fact that gas prices here are almost $2 a litre, so u gotta find summin that is easy on gas.

Just so we're clear, this is the equivalent of calling Dinan a scam. If I were within range, I would probably bat you on the nose with a newspaper and take away your food bowl.

The DA SC only runs about 8psi of boost as it is sent from DA... and yes it does make around 200whp and yes it does make a 318i very fast and yes it will beat a stock or bolt on (being defined as CAI *laf*, some cute muffler don't know about a chip woudl be alot closer with a chip) 6cly non M e36. Remeber the hp claim on most E36's is never supported by a dnyo on the stock E36's. So the DA SC gives a 318i greater rwhp than the 325 or 328i crank or cliamed hp which means that the SC 318i has more hp (dont' know the torque graphs and don't feel like looking them up after a shitty day at work). Granted there are other factors that could change that, but if he knows how to get that added power down without losing traction or making stupid shifting mistakes (if it's an auto kick him in the nuts and steal his car and send me the SC and hardware from it), get ready to read 318i.
