much later from now I plan on doing an engine swap from my 325is engine to an M3 engine but my friends have been telling me not to bother with that and just rebuild my engine and put a supercharger on it. Which would be the best idea in your opinions?

Id go with the euro spec M3 engine sinc eit already has 321 hp. This way you wont have to worry about supercharges. Personally i dont think BMW where made for turbos and supercharges.
A rebult engine will cost u anywhere between 1500 - 2000 plsu the supercharger which is at least 5000 - 6000. so for that much money id rather save up 2 more grand and get the euro spec. thats my opinion. If your fine wit 260 with all that money u spent thats cool, but id go wit my horse
yeah, I think I'll go for the euro spec m3 engine, I didn't know they had that much horsepower. Emissions wouldnt be a problem here in georgia cause you can pay the emiisions guy to pass you without a problem.

Get a 2.8L drop it in, and convert it to OBD I. More power than an M and much more practical. Parts are cheaper. You could rebuild a 2.8L block and build it with forged internals to turbo it. Or just build it out of aluminum parts and run like a 10.5 or 10.6 compresion for a high compression N/A engine.

P.S. You're welcome Jllphan

I was reluctant to post, cause this is one of two things I always am eager to talk about. The aforementioned is the most cost effective major mod available. A 2.8L M52 is an easy find, and once converted to OBDI and chipped, your looking at close to 250hp. Add a free flow exhaust, headers and a CAI and we're looking at 260hp+. And that's before you even get into the engine.
///M engines and supercharges sound cool, but if you want bang for the buck, this is the ticket.
