his s/c 318 would be faster than your car... so how does your statement making sense?

if he sold his 318, and use the money he wants to spend on a turbo for a 325 or 328 with mods, or get an M3, THOSE cars would be faster than a turbo or sc 318
a stock 325 might be even with a 318 turbo but the 318 turbo definately wont be blowing cars out of the water
it couldnt keep up with a 325 or 328 with even a few mods.. and definately would get its ass handed to it by an m3...
this is how i "making sense" :P

A s/c 318i... assuming it is a DA s/c has slightly over 200 hp. You combine that with the typical mods done to a 325i, chip, CAI maybe exhaust, and put those same typical mods on the 318i and yes, the 325i is still going to loose. Not to mention the weight difference between the two cars. So not only would it out run but it would also out handle a 325i. True an M3 would still beat it, but that is true of most other cars as well.
well i beat a turbo integra on the freeway, and isnt that a 1.8 liter or 2.0? i think turbo/supercharged 318 would be fast..... but would have great torque all the way through and i think a 325 with a good driver and a chip/intake would take it
thanks for the input guys, basically my issue is i dont feel like selling it (i just bought it a week ago) but i would like to make it as good as i can be cause if i sell it an get an m3 i besically will have to spend 10 grand more so if i just supercharge it for what 4000$ i will have a fast car for alot less, am i wrong?? thats why iam asking
Ignore the negativity of supercharging a 318i. There are a lot of good arguments to do it. I have been looking at the Downing Atlanta product and it looks like a good one. First your car will be lighter, which means not only faster on the straight away but also better performance on the turns. Stiffen up the suspension a bit and you will have a winner on your hands.
The 318i(s) is a good looking car that is slow. If the interior and exterior looks great and you want a great ride, why not supercharge. To sell your car will most likely mean a loss, which no one seems to consider, then you inherit some one else's problem in a used 325i which you might have to fix before supercharging.
If your car is clean, and you have the bucks to modify the car, why not? Most here are experts on not supercharging a 318i even though they have never seen one or ridden in one. I have a 330xi E46 as well as my son's 94 318i and no doubt about it, I prefer the cornering characteristics of the E36 over the E46. Also I think a supercharged 318i would be very close in performance to a E46 330i. The E46 is a heavier bulkier car, its great in the corners but not as great as an E36.
I say go for it - my gut instincts tell me you won't regret it. AND, if you do, post with some pics and how you like it.
