ok i have a 93 318is auto maintained pretty well has about 132k on it now. I have an intake with a K&N and i just got the Turner Chip put in. Now i was just curious on seeing what it ran in the 1/4 because i have seen on other websites that it is around 17 flat. Now we head down there my first run 18.799 !!! hahah i couldnt beleive that it was that slow kinda rediculous. I raced some infiniti that ran high 14s. I power braked to around 2300 launched and i kept pretty close with him on the launch. 60 foot time was 2.7 i think i dont know ill write in all the info. I mean conditions were perfect around 65 degrees. Second run i ran a 18.5. Weighed the car in at 3160 with me in it being around 145-150 myself. I dont know if anyone knows any reason it was that rediculously slow besides it being an auto. The one thing i was concerned with was that when i shifted into 3rd the rpms did not rise one bit they kind of seemed like they were ready to start declining hahaha. never had that happen before in the street and it did it in both runs. Watching the other cars was real fun i even saw an E36 M3 pull up and ran 16.5, thats when i knew i was in trouble even before i ran hahah.
its a 1.8L 4-banger... not an M3. BMW made that car for a low budget way of having a bimmer. If you want speed, stop putting money into that small engine and upgrade to atleast a 325 or 328.
16.5 that sounds really slow for an M3 especially since my 318 can do 15.8. I have seen a 325 do 15 flat. A unmodded manual 318 should be able to do 17 flat with spare tire and full tank of gas. A 325 should do about 15.5
It was probably a moded 318 with M badges. or a 325/328 on a bad day; or a poorly maintained M3.
its a 4 banger, and auto, and who knows if everything else is at its prime? fuel filter, plugs, wires, rotor, alot of unknows. but i think that that speed is fine. now my car would run yours i wish you were closer so we could race hahaha! good luck on the next run.
all i hear is bad stuff about 318's, i love mine the car has awsome balance, cant wait to get my downing atlanta supercharger(saving up halfway there) and leave you six cylinder cars in the dust and still get better gas mileage than you guys, let you know when i get it in about three months,

yeah and then 1 month later when your car blows up...
yeah - spark plugs + fuel filter. I just changed my filter and I swear my car seems a bit faster, could totally be mental though, but it hadn't been changed in a while.

hey yea 323 i was definitly at englishtown on wednesday night in the black E36. Im sure you saw me because it was only me and that other M3 there. Anyway im not trying to complain that i dont have a 15 second car because i know its not. But i know that i should have shot somewhere around 17s being i got an intake and a chip and 17 is supposed to be stock. And yes i have a new air filter i need to change the fuel filter because i dont know when that was done last.
