I actually dropped my e36 off today to have the whole headliner replaced. They said they "have to" take out the whole cassette to get it right. Could be your guys have a different way of doing it, but they explained to me that they do it by taking out the whole thing.

Now, my sunroof currently doesn't tilt up, but it does slide all the way open. They're fixing that at the same time.

I'll post some pics when I get it back.

I took the whole cassette out to do mine, but i was told its possible without removing the cassette. Mine also only goes back not tilt, i think its the lifters.
