i know this may sound stupid, and probably lots of you will laugh, but eh, just curious, i was out driving tonight, raced a couple of cars, then this Z4 pulls up to me wanting to race, but by that time cops were all over the place, so i backed off, ive never been in one let alone driven a z4, but how fast are those things, i think it was the 2.5 one, automatic i believe, just out of curiosity, what are the odds that my manual 325 with slight mods could have taken it, or at least kept up with it?

stock i think theyre about as fast as eachother. they have about the same hp and torque and weigh about the same. so i bet you would have slightly pulled on him depending on how you drove.
it would be a close race for sure! if i were you, id go z4 hunting and give it a try myself... im accually really intresested in how it would turn out now!
lol...will do...il be sure to do that next weekend, its a small city where i live, and theres only so many places ppl can go on weekends, pretty sure i can find the guy again, ill let u know how it goes,

Like others have said, based on this, Im assuming it will be determined by whose the better driver...
why is the 325's 0 to 60 so much slower? just because of diff and power band? with those wieght, hp and torque numbers id think the 0 to 60 would be closer?
i dont think a stock manual 325 could beat an auto 2.5 z4 even if you did every shift perfectly. all he has to do is stomp the pedal, and you know how fast and accurate autos shift. plus, the z4 is just faster . according to the stats rex posted anyway.
since yours has light mods though you may be able to keep up if you drove great
