Hiya,
Im having a strange problem with my 93 318i, its only started happening a few weeks ago, whats happening is:
- When i pull away
- When i slow down
- When travelling at a constant slow speed (no more than 15mph i estimate)
When doing any of these, i hear a few small clunks from the back right end (it may be both but i sit on the right and my gf could only hear it from the back right too so i assume this to be true) at first i thought it might be the petrol cap flap, which is a little bit loose, but now this isnt the case i dont think as when im moving at a constantly slow speed the noise turns into more of a whine/scratch like its scratching against something, but the clunk is still there when i pull away or slow down to a stop.
I had a word with a friend who said it could be the wheel bearing, i have no idea how much this is to fix or what causes it though, and in the mean time until i can have it checked (16th oct) i have a noisey back end thats quite worrying.
I tried to reproduce the noise by jacking the car up and turning the wheel but it turned smooth as a babies bum, with no noises or clunks.
I recently had tyres changed and they said they checked my bushes etc and t hey looked fine.
if anyone has any info for me, please share.
regards
clint (nervous)
