Strange Problem - Please help!

Today I changed out my brake light switch on my '99 M3. Everything seemed to work great until a few hours later when I went out and my car wont start.

When I turn the key the engine does not crank, but there appears to be plenty of power from the battery as the dash lights are all on and the radio comes on.

Also, when I try to lock the doors with my key fob I hear three short chirps. I've tried slamming all the doors, the trunk, and the hood but the same problem still happens.

Any ideas as to why my car wont lock or start?

Haven't stuck my head up under that section of the dash before, but sounds like you may have bumped something or shorted something.

Did you make sure that the switch has a fraction clearance? Are the brake lights on all the time or only when you press the pedal?

Its much easier when the smoke escapes.. makes electrical fault finding so much easier! hehe

Could you have possibly bumped the safety switch on the clutch pedal? That could cause the no crank condition, but the 3 chirps sound like somethings open, on my car it was the hood sensor.
