I went to start up my 92 325is today and the battery was completely dead. It was fully charged a couple of hours earlier. I then put in a fully charged battery. The lights,windows,radio and every other electrical component worked but when I cranked, I heard "click..click..click..click" and I know what that sound means. My starter is gone.

How do the battery and the starter go bad at the same time even though the battery was fully charged earlier?! This is so far the strangest encounter I had with car. I tried to read the starter troubleshooting article on pelican auto but got lost in the middle. Can anyone show me an easier way to make certain that the starter is bad?

if everything worked then it shouldnt be your battery.sounds like starter.maybe a new one?pop the whole assembly out and take it to autozone and get it checked.sounds like the solenoid is working.poke it w/ a 2x4.

its your battery man... its not your starter... the "new battery" doesnt have enough juice in it to turn over your engine... just jump the car and drive it around enough to get it charged again... if your battery is too low then it will make that clicking noise when you try and turn it over... just jump it... lemme know how it goes...
