yeah if you haven't done anything, then you might just have a dent or hole somewhere on the exhaust

is your lowered? or have you bottomed out lately? my other guess is if there is a hole it was just waiting to go, and finally went, get under there and check it out
I used to have a loud muffler. It had no holes and I dont have a lowered car. I think its just old. I once in a while hear other bmw that sound like that. It sounds nice I think. My friend, has worm out muffler and intake, Id have to rate his car on the top 10 best cars I have ever heard. lol. Its a gold 325is, LivingFast67 I think is his name. Get a new muffler piece and your car will go back to normal sound.
how about giving me some money..... its on the list after i switch out the susention. my point is i'm not complaing at the sound of the stock exhaust, broken or not
This is only if you do not have a hole or something similiar.
If you want the exhaust quieter for normal driving but still like the sound when you are having fun, you can get something to help with that. I can not remember the name of it, perhaps some one else will know it. But it is a circular disk thingy that goes in your exhaust with a motor to rotate it from close to open and any where in between. This thing works well with loud cars... really loud cars on quieting them down. I am not sure what it would do with a stock car.
