I just bought a 97 328is coupe... my stock wheels are the 16 inch.. with double spokes not too sure how to explaing but im sure some one has to know what im talking about... well i was wonder if the countours being 17 inch wheigh more or less than my stock??? im interested in buying a set from a friend.. Please help the noob..

There's a simple way to find out. Take off one of your wheels and weigh it. then take one of your friend's wheel and weigh it. Then compare.

The only way you're going to get a significant weight reduction on your wheels that would actually make a difference (even then it would only be slight) would be to get a set of alloy rims...
If anything, they will affect the acceleration. Speed is usually affected by aerodynamics, especially at higher speeds. In either case, I doubt you will be able to tell much of a difference.
