Stiff throttle

I know this one must have popped up somewhere in here, but i couldnt find a solution.
How have people freed up the stiff throttle/gas peddle?
On my 328 it feels as though there is more resistance on the peddle than other bmw i have driven?
Is it a case of simply lubricating the cable or the accelerator linkages, perhaps the throttle body needs de-gumming? Cheers in advance lads.

I forget if e36's have an electronic throttle or not. Assuming they don't you can lube up the throttle linkage with some wd40.
