Hello: I have recently purchased a 1996 E36 318is. I would like to replace the stock airbag equipped steering wheel with an airbag equipped 1995 M3 wheel. Are the two interchangeable? My mechanic says no. Please advise. Thank you. SWA
The steering wheels should interchange just fine. As far as I know the only problem is between the early and late E46 cars where there were two different air bag systems.

So you are saying that the E46 steering wheel will fit the E36 steering rod?

Okey Just wanted to check. I'm soon doing a e46 m3 steering wheel conversion in my e36, thats why i was interested.
Not sure that is going to work. You might be able to physically get the E46 steering wheel to mount on the E36 steering shaft but I'm pretty sure you will get an SRS/Air Bag light.

That can be removed Besides, a 325 doesnt drive so fast that you can get hurt if the airbag is disconnected
