Stealership questions

I have two issues that I need help on before I turn my wallet over to the stealership. My car is a '97 318i
1) My check engine light is on, and a mechanic ran the codes, which came out to be PO 301, PO 302, PO 303, PO 304. I believe it's a co2 problem. does anybody know what those codes mean?
2) My break pad sensor light is coming on, and the stealership says that when they replace the pads, they do the rotors, too. Is this necessary? I'm guessing it's expensive.

I don't know about the codes, but BMW will always replace rotors when they do brakes.

They will charge you an arm and a leg for a brake job, which is why 1 month ago I did my own brake job.

If you have any mechanical ability at all you can easily do your own brakes. And you can do them for about $100, and that includes replacing the rotors as well. I think from bavauto.com pads are like $30, and rotors are $40 each.

We can send you step by step directions on how to do your own brakes if you wanted. The job took me like 3 hours because it was the first time I have done brakes in about 20 years. Trust me, it is VERY easy to do your own brakes.

You really should try and do them, this is the simplest DIY job, which will save you huge $$.

The codes are cylinder misfires in all 4 cylinders.Are you having drivability issues, sputtering, low power, etc? If it drives okay, erase the codes and see what happens. If they come back, check the plugs, wires, coil pack. It could be an 02 issue,but that should have it's own code. I've found the best way to check these codes is "Google". Put the codes in the search in Parentheses (" "). You will find more than enough to tell you exactly what the code means and what to do about it.
