Starter Question

Hello

I went to my BMW mechanic today for an oil change and he told me that I have to change the starter...

I looked on the net but there are many different starter models...

I want Bosch (unless you tell me not to buy this) but look at this:

Look at the note:

If the vehicle calls for the SR0445X which is built without threads in the drive end, either unit with or without threads can be used. If the vehicle calls for the drive end with threads, SR0448X should only be used. "

How do I know what's the right one for me? Also, is this refurbished because the dealer want +355$ for a Bosch starter instead of 120$ ??!!

By the way, I have a 318i 1998, M44, manual. Don't know if it's usefull to say I got a VALEO alternator.

BUMP for ya...

Also.. go to Pelicanparts.com and look up your starter... You should be able to go with a number of brands.. The Valeo is the more exspensive one.. as the Boush is cheaper.. but still the same unit... as for which one to get.. easy answer would be to call the dealership and ask them for the part number.. take that part number to www.pelicanparts.com and look it up.. and it will produce a starter for you for much cheaper than the dealer ever could.
