My car's starter is not working (E36:1994 325 IS).* When I turn the ignition key I hear a "click" and sometimes there is a grinding noise for a second or two.* Replaced the battery with a new one but the problem remains.* Please help
Does the grinding sound definately come from the starter? If so, have you recently replaced it ? If you have, is it an OEM starter?
Sometimes if you are in a jam to get the car started, you can simply "tap" the starter with a hammer or similar heavy object.
The starter has never been replaced in this car. the grinding noise is rare and i am not sure if its the starter thats making it.
I shall try tapping it with a hammer, as soon as if figure out where the starter is. Thanks for the help
