I am looking to install a SSK kit in my car and was curious if anyone knew how a $300 one from bavauto is different from say a $50 dollar one on ebay...link for ebay one is

I agree i dont know anything about these but isnt it just a metal rod with some bearings ? so how would a cheaper one differ ?
Also I have the leather/chrome M-tech shift knob now, can i still use the same knob once i reduce the height ? Also can any mechanic do it for me ? cuz i think the DIY is a little hard.....
