Squealing screeching engine noise

This noise has been present for about a week now. It only happens when the car is warm. Ive had the hose around in the engine trying to pinpoint the source and it seems its coming from the area i focus the torch on at 0:20 ish. it looks like perhaps the transmission? That little hole there if i put the hose near it i can hear the noise. the noise does not change pitch with more gas or even if i put it in gear.

Any help appreciated!

That's hard to say. But I think it's serious enough for a solution to be found before any more driving.

When the noise stops at 41 seconds in the video it sounds more fan belt/timing belt noise related though it could be the starter motor staying engaged.

if ur car is stick shift .. that sounds like the throw out bearing it sits rite before the pressure plate on the clutch see if it goes away when i step on the clutch .. and if it stops its the throwout bearing ..

i took your advice and didnt drive it then took it to a local mechanic and he diagnosed it as a loose bolt on the torque converter. car sounds awesome again.

the mechanic fixed a whole heap of stuff for me which im happy with so if anyone wants the name of a decent bmw specialist mechanic in melbourne pm me
