Very ncie lookign car though. A real nice paint modificationt hat can really make your car look a load better is getting those ground effects paint matched to your car.
Originally posted by zeaq@Dec 27 2004, 07:14 AM I just don't get it.The white picture posted has a side skirt too.Why isn't a sport pakage?I see mostly all E36 has a side skirt?Am i right?
How about my 328i?Just wondering.

no the difference they're saying is whether or not the side skirts are painted to match the rest of the car, like in that pic everything is silver, but in the pic of the white car the car is white but it has grey side skirts, they're not saying the difference is side skirts or no side skirts
hope that helps

Well..now I'm confused. I always thought the coupe version of the 3 series automatically came with the sports package...and that's what the "s" in the model number stood for...like 325is.
So, if I'm wrong, what does the "s" stand for?

No squeaks or rattles... unreal!
Anyway, does anyone know...When did BMW start color matching the side skirts for all their cars? I have a 96 318i all color matched...

I just bought a '98 328i sedan & was trying to figure it out too. The origional sticker says it came with the sport package, but the emblem on the back says 328i. I think it has something to do with the year as well, because I have seen some 4 door 328is.

OK what about Automatic/manual option, is that standard equiptment? there must be other criteria in the car besides the side skirts that makes it a sports package...
i dunno but bmwworld.com said that "s" stands for sport, so my guess is that 328is has a sport package, but then comes a question about the e46 330Ci with sport packages, then, im just confused, i mean wouldnt bmw make it noticable that a car is equipped with a sport package?? help me out
S does stand for sport an comes on the coupes only in e36's. I don't believe it necessarily means sport package. Also they didn't start doign this till one of the later e36 years.
Sports package e36's are SLIGHTLY lower than regular ones also. Paint matched side skirts means it does have sports package.
In e46's it is really all about the body kit an rim, but the thign is those can be purchased outside of a package so u really nvr know with soem thigns. Performance ackage is a sure thing though cuz of the tranny.
Body-colored sideskirts and bumpers appeared on six-cylinder E36s as early as the 1993 model year; even the 4-cylinder 3s had them from 1995 on. "s" appended to the model number denotes coupe. Maybe the "s" comes from sport -- we need someone who speaks German to help out with this--, but only to imply "sporty-looking," or something of that sort. Furthermore, your car seems to have 15-inch rims mounted. The sports package came with 16-inch, five-spoke (I may be wrong here, maybe it was seven) wheels; I doubt anyone would have downgraded their rims. Using this information, here is my guess (which is by no means guaranteed to be correct):
You do not have the sports package.
(maybe with your VIN and a call to the dealer you can find out for sure)
