Does any one know a site which has a correct comparison between the m50 an m50tu engines? I cant find a site with the correct information. I'd like to know the difrence in horsepower and torque between these engines. Maybe a dyno graph?
So that meens the M50B25 and M50B25TU are equal regarding HP and torque. They only have a difrent curve when you benchmark the engine on a dyno (technical difrences aside)?
Correct sir. The 92's (non vanos) have a higher peak torque (like 4500) than the vanos models (like 3200 or 3500) The differences show up when you start modifying them. The non vanos models have a little bit better up top performance. Still the same peak numbers but a different curve. The vanos editions get like 20 more ft lbs of torque with a chip.
The 92 has higher lift and duration cams to make up for the non adjustable camshaft. It also has a double vavle spring head and larger intake and exaust valves. The 92 block was used in the creation of the 95 M3 by boring it out to 3L and changing the camshafts. There was a different head used with smaller vavles and vanos.
