Spark Plugs And More Power - BMW Forum

Hi all,
I have 328i 1996 when i first got it was really perfect and very powerful after changing the spark plugs it became less power so I need to know what is best spark plug type for this car and if the 4 pin spark plug a good idea or not and which brand?

also I need to know if someone can help me on what to do to make power upgrade for this car, I like it but more power will make me love it more.

I'm going to tell you the same thing a lot of others on this forum will tell you about gaining power... do some searching.. hang around.. and read others topics.. there is a very very good amount of information on this forum.. also use the search feature... which is great..

As for the spark plugs.. use what the manual says... the ignition system on these cars is very picky on what they like to run with... 4 pin plugs are often not that productive on these cars...

You can try different plugs and spend hundreds of dollars before you come to the conclusion that OEM plugs are actually and truthfully the way to go.

Bosch manufactures the ignition system for our engines and they are designed to work with OEM plugs. Change the plugs, change how the engine fires.

I think it was jilphan or someone else who went rhough 4 FULL different sets of plugs before he put OEM back in. Everything but OEM caused problems.

I use Bosch Platinum 4+, and the machine works fine.

Yes there are some engines or ignition systems that work just fine with them, but it's probably safer to just use OEM instead of swapping plugs to find one that works well.

how much the OEM costs? In my market here mostly it seems they do duplications this is why i noticed the performance to be down, also when i mention i need to do some performance upgrade i do not need big changes to OEM I mean slight changes which will do enough.

The best way to go with spark plugs should be Japan made NGK BKR6EK. They also make NGK's in Italy I think... but italian made plugs suck big time.

(This is for the M50 engine... I think M52 should use the same plugs)
