someone tried to break into 1995 318i please help.

I have a 1995 BMW 318i that someone tried to break into both doors, but were unsuccessful. Now neither door (its a 2 door) will open, from the inside or the outside. I can get into the trunk, and had a tow truck driver use tools to fold down the back seat so I can crawl into the car. The key goes into the ignition but when I turn it it does not engage the starter. Nothing I do inside will allow me to open the doors, or roll down the windows. My insurance company towed it to the nearest dealership, as there is also paint damage etc. All the dealership will tell me is that it needs a new starter and both door latch mechanisms must have failed at the same time. There is no way i am going to believe that.

Car is also a right hand drive that I imported from Japan, if that makes a difference. Any help is sure appreciated. Im sure it has some kind of immobilizer system but dealership says it has nothing.

The new starter advise is bullshit... You're right, most likely, about the immobilizer issue... Stand your ground!

Thanks for that, but really need to know as much as possible about how an immobiliser system would work on this car. Insurance is believing the dealership at this point and I am definitely not going to stand for that at this point.

If the insurance compay is buying the BS that they are being fed, let them do what they want, in the end you want your car back running, I suspect that it could be the motor, gearbox, diff, radiator, ac and possibly the power steering could be damaged as well as the tyres from being towed. Get them all changed and see if it starts.
