So i went and got an oil change yesterday....

n at my mechanics, when it was up in the air, I was underneath it, it has a bad vibration in the exhaust, so i wanted to check it out....

well... when i was under it, my mechanic pointed out where the vibration was comming from, It was my cat, the strange thing was, is he said, Ben, this is not even a BMW cat on your car... the down pipes are hella small, so is the cat, it is so small, the pipes look like if you took a large straw and stuck a smaller one inside and welded in the 1 1/4 inch gap! he also pointed out i have a bad out toe (?) problem with my tires, all 4 have the belt from the tire starting to show, from the outside of the car look at the wheels, youd never guess.. lame n

I am thinking about just going to some muffler shop and having them put on a large straight pipe and no cat untill Oct of 2006 (when i next need emissions, that will let me have time to save up the 400 for the pipes and cat)

tires are 809.00 for yoks
639.89 for the continetals

Just remember, a straight pipe wil be LOUD. You will either hate it or become addicted to it. Tire prices seem a little high. My brother just bought new shoes for his Z-car and didnt pay that much. He got four Z-rated Yoks shipped for about $550 from tirerack.com I dont remember the model, but the operator actually told him that all the guys with ///M3's were buying that particular tire (kind of random thing for a tire guy to say).

i mean a straight pipe only to take the place of the cat, Id still have the ACS muffler

discount tire is offering those prices on the tires,
the yoks i have on my car now (the ones wearing away) are 225/45 zr17 90w (rated 168, one day i hope to go that fast )
the 600+ tires i mentioned are the same size just not as high end as the yoks

would removing just the cat cause the car to be alot louder? my ACS catback sounds close to stock, but when at high speeds or boging it down, it has a nice rumble, very nice

I was quoted $600 for OEM BMW Cat, and $200 for Aftermarket cat - and told that the functionality would be identical.

last owner probably made the same decision you would make.

however the bastard that installed the funky cat is the one that should get punched.
