Smoke from exhaust but not overheating?

Hey guys I have a m42 e36 318is and the car idles roughly and begins to discharge a small amount of white smoke once warmed up (smoke increases with revs) and the check engine light is on. The car does not overheat. I have cleaned the ICV and made sure there are no vacuum leaks, also replaced all serviceable fluids and filters including plugs and leads. I am starting to think I may have a crack in the head? If one of you fellas can give me a hand with a few suggestions that would be highly appreciated. Serge.

Anything white from the exhaust may be water/coolant vapor. It could be a head issue, possibly the gasket.
