They make bulbs specifically for what you may be looking for so that you don't "ruin" your clear corner look. I have smoked corners from bavarian autosport and I also purchased their "stealth bulbs".. they have a CHROME finish to them so they blend in with the background of your corner lights, but when they blink, they are amber... you can find them on www.bavauto.com or many other stores locally.
here's a description from bavauto.com

Stealth Bulbs - Pair ==> Donąt ruin the look of your clear lenses! Stealth bulbs are silver but blink amber to keep the DOT happy. Replaces turn signal and/or tail light bulb on some cars.
I agree. Amber looks best when illuminated, but ruins the point of the clears. The bulbs he suggests are a great alternative. A cheaper method is to buy amber bulbs and spray paint them with a light coat of gray.

I just sprayed mine and the look very nice. I have silver bulbs and only payed 2.49 for silver bulbs, instead of paying like $20 for bulbs.

im not worried that it will look ricey, i dont think it would be unless it was like... pulsating to the music or changing colors or a crazy turnsignal that blinds oncoming traffic
not like BLUE BLUE, but like a light blue.. shall i say, HIDish

pure white with a tint of blue might pass on a BMW, and still look classy in the process...but I'm pretty sure it is not street legal in most places....
to add to this post... i just bought some euro lite hyper whit bulbs today... they look allmost exactly the same as plain white/clear bulbs... very dissapointed ( $21.00 lose!!)

Are you talking headlight, or corners? If your talking headlights, I got the Silverstar bulbs and they make a huge difference. Definitly a lot whiter and I can see a little better.
