Six Disc CD Changer - BMW Forum

This might be the wrong category for this, but all of my audio is stock anyway, I don't like to deal in electrical, thus upgrading this category is out as far as I'm concerned. My cd player however, and I would like to stay stock, skips like CRAZY. Any reason for this, or way to stop it? It takes FOREVER to read anything as well. I don't plan on going after market so I'd prefer to fix whatever is wrong with mine, or get a new BMW changer. If I hit a bump, of course it skips, but some CD's is hardly wants to read at all. I'll wait ten minutes and all of a sudden it'll kick on and start playing the CD. By which time I had forgotten about putting it on and it usually scares the crap out of me if I had it turned up. Thanks for any ideas.

With your car being a 94, I am going to assume the changer hasnt ever had a good, professional "clean and alignment". Take the changer out (should just be a bracket and one plug), and call around to some local repair shops. They should be able to clean the optics, and align the laser and receiver. That should get you back to not having to have an extra pair of shorts in the glovebox
