Signals below mileage

I have a second-hand BMW 318i without a manual. I always wonder what does the green blocks under the mileage mean? Can someone explain that to me? Thank you very much!lights on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

That tells you when to change your oil. You have to manually reset it when you change the oil, if you do it yourself you can use paper clips. Can't remember off the top of my head which pins you have to jump though. But, it's on the circular "connector" under the hood.

Thanks a lot! Based on my picture, do I need to change the oil now?
I got oil changed 1 year ago, about 3000miles driven last year.

youve been driving on the same oil for 1 year? change it, might want to do an engine flush too
