I hate to answer my own question....but here are 3 reasons( the 3 pictures below for slow folks) why I'm upgrading to these M sport moldings!!!!!
It looks so much more cleaner than those nasty thin rubber moldings hanging off my doors. Plus these match the width and texture of the front and rear bumper moldings. ( was BMW thinking by their OEM molding mitchmatch design?)
(pictures are of Chris's M3 from understeer site!!!)
Hate to say it.. but I dont like it when people put M stuff on a non M car.. doesnt look right.. and just doesnt fit... that is my own opinion.. I've seen it done.. but the M3 emblem was taken off.. and a motorsports one was put in its place... that was pretty cool... but I think the train of thought on weather or not to put those moldings on.. I wouldnt do it if I owned a non M car... but thats just me... and my two cents...
It does look cleaner.. maybe put them on .. and change the emblem... or something like that... who knows.. get creative...

Dudes enlarge that Bavauto Picture.
The moldings I'm getting do NOT say M3. it just says M (for Motor Sports). If I wanted an M3 car (and I probably did when I was 14 or 15 yrs old) I'd have bought one. I'm not planning on dressing my car up like an M3. In fact, I don't even like M3s as much as I like regularass E36 cars!
Anyway the matching moldings all around are proper regardless of what logo is on them! I'll be sure to take off any M3 logo so I don't offend any E36 M3 drivers !
Funny story relevant to this topic.....Today I drove behind an old 1991 beat up, patched worked, riced out white Honda Civic coup with a "Mercedes Benz AMG" logo on the rear trunk lid next to "CIVIC" . I laughed all the way behind it : and as I drove by I saw an old guy driving-probably his grandson's car. I felt sorry for him .
Moral of the story is.........I know how stupid it looks to fake it! :P
WOW... thats my second retard moment of the day... I looked at that pic before I posted.. to make sure it had the M3 on it.. and I could have swore I had seen M3.. not just M...
I apologize
Les
BTW.. I've never seen those... they look aight.. I'd still pain them though.. cause that looks nice too...
since were on the subject... i bought my 98 323is from a 23 year old kid.. and it had ORIGINAL M3 side moldings... and even though it looks good... it still has ///M3 on it... i want to get rid of them... but i don't have original side moldings... do u know where i can find another emblem instead of the ///M3 one???
alpine, u said u saw a car, with international motorsports emblems instead of ///M3??? where could u find such a thing?? any websites??
I like em they look way better. I keep my 325is emblem on the trunk not trying to perp out. Do not think the moldings are woth 200$ though. If I found them for 75$ max I would buy them but I am going to go ahead and paint my stock ones when I paint that ugly gray SHI*. I am taking everything black to green when I do it actually. Just found a paint booth a buddy is going to let me use this winter.

I know exactl what you mean. I remeber that post about the logos for moldings because hat is when I started to notice my own moldings. Maybe the post is still up in here somewhere. But I remember clicking on a link to the site where those were for sale. I think it was either BAvauto or Autowerks or the other one.....uhm....M3motorwerks....
