Shifting Knob Problem

Ok so heres what happened...one day i was driving my car and when i switched from 1st gear to 2nd i pulled the shifting knob out. Any ideas of how to keep it "glued" in place this way it doesnt keep slipping out??

I dont want to use actual glue because if i need to remove the knob one day, i wont be able to since its glued in.

Any suggestions???

rubber cement.

Yeah, I know, its glue, but its a tacky glue that will hold it, but still let you pull it off later. Plus the RC will gob up and be easy to clean.

Short of that, you can try wrapping the rod in teflon tape.
