hey guys, i posted earlier about a noise i had i thought was rod knock, turned out to be lookse spark plug in cylinder 1, tightened it down , noise went away....now there is an INTERNAL sound here is the video of it.....
It is hard to tell from the video......I know a little trick that might help you pin point the noise.....you will need a long tire iron or crow bar.... from the side of the engine, place one end against the side of the lower engine "block" & the other end near your ear. Then move it to the top portion of the engine, the "head" & listen for sound changes. If it's a rod knock, you will here it very loud from the lower engine block area. If the sound increases in the head area, then it might be a valve problem.
no sounds nothin like the vanos problem, what you hear in the video is the exact way it sounds in real life, except for that when its warmer its louder. Mechanic said he thinks its coming from cylinder 1/2 which is where my loose spark plug was earlier.
If I were in your shoes, I would first try to pin point where the noise is coming from engine block? head? Vanos? .......if you can't figure it out....the next thing I would do, is a compression test on each cylinder. On the 6 cyl. the min. compression should be 142-156psi & maximum difference between cylinders of 7 psi.
ok so i opened the hood, and put my ear next to the aluminum piece, when i go to the block(cover) the sound is not a sprominent there, then i go back and its abit louder near the aluminum piece....its louder when its warmed up too, and sometimes its louder than other times.

When you say aluminum piece, do you mean the very front portion of the valve cover.....hmmm......Vanos? Bad? A worn vanos, would be a blessing @ this point, rather than a bent rod or valve.....
