Has any one fixed a rusting along the lower edge of the trunk's lid? How much effort (and $$) am I looking at from a body shop?

expensive either way you look at it. if you want it done right they will have to repaint the whole trunk lid after doing some sanding and whatnot

Buy a new lid and have it painted to match. Why bother with bondo that will never look right.

how much rust?

If itys not much you could sand it down and touchup that area.
